About

Luke Nelson is a cinematographer and director working at the intersection of nature, people and performance.

With a background in expedition and natural history filmmaking, he has spent the past several years filming in remote environments around the world on productions including Planet Earth III for the BBC Natural History Unit, alongside projects for Netflix and National Geographic.

His work blends cinematic landscapes with human-driven storytelling — capturing both the scale of the natural world and the intimate moments within it. Equally at home on expedition or structured productions, Luke brings a calm, observational approach to filming in challenging environments.

Alongside his natural history work, he directs independent films and is developing a slate of projects exploring our relationship with landscape, movement and time, with a growing focus on presenter-led storytelling.
